As much as I love vampires I generally don't find them scary, but this is one hell of an exception.</p> </li> <li> <p>Blade(1998)- One of the coolest vampire movies ever made, the action is top notch!</p> </li> <li> <p>Buffy The Vampire Slayer(1992)- Fun movie, not as good as the show though</p> </li> <li> <p>Byzantium(2013)- Not gonna sugarcoat it, I thought this movie was really fucking boring</p> </li> <li> <p>Daybreakers(2009)- A little cheesy at times, but holy shit the worldbuilding is so cool, there seriously needs to be more post apocalyptic/dystopian fiction where vampires are the dominant species</p> </li> <li> <p>Freaks of Nature(2015)- This movie is stupid but like. In a good way. I was expecting it to be terrible, but I actually ended up unironically enjoying it</p> </li> <li> <p>Fright Night(1985)- THIS IS MY FAVORITE VAMPIRE MOVIE I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! Jerry Dandridge is my favorite vampire, he's so hot omg I'd let him eat me. Also the soundtrack is fucking peak, my favorite being Come to Me by Brad Fiedel which is one of the sexiest songs ever made. I'm not gonna spoil anything but the scene where it plays in the background (iykyk) lives rent free in my head. Man I love this movie so much</p> </li> <li> <p>Fright Night(2011)- Not as good as the original, but still a solid movie</p> </li> <li> <p>Fright Night Part 2(1988)- Not as good as the first movie, but still fun</p> </li> <li> <p>A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night(2014)- Pacing is a tad awkward, but otherwise great movie. Love the atmosphere!</p> </li> <li> <p>Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person(2023)- Probs unintentional, but this is very autistic coded. Speaking as an autistic person myself</p> </li> <li> <p>The Hunger(1983)- Such a gorgeous and sexy movie</p> </li> <li> <p>Innocent Blood(1992)- Pretty cheesy, but it's fun</p> </li> <li> <p>Interview With The Vampire(1994)- Great movie, but the show is so much better lol</p> </li> <li> <p>Let Me In(2010)- Not as good as the original, but still decent</p> </li> <li> <p>Let The Right One In(2008)- Eli is one of the best written sympathetic vampires ever</p> </li> <li> <p>The Lost Boys(1987)- I'm not as crazy about this movie as other vampire fans are, but I still think it's a good movie. I love the soundtrack though!</p> </li> <li> <p>My Best Friend Is A Vampire(1987)- I was debating whether or not to put this here because of its MPA rating, but ykw it felt like it was one risky moment away from being pg-13 so I'll add it. Anyways, cute movie.</p> </li> <li> <p>My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To(2020)- If you want a vampire movie that's depressing as hell, here you go. I cried while watching this (which is a good thing btw, love it when fiction gets me to cry)</p> </li> <li> <p>Near Dark(1987)- Great movie! Love the Southern Gothic aesthetic, and the vampire coven (especially Severen) are a very fun group of characters</p> </li> <li> <p>Nosferatu(2024)- This movie was so fucking hot. Also that ending shot was just &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;</p> </li> <li> <p>Only Lovers Left Alive(2013)- It's one of those movies that you both like and think is great, but you 100% get it if someone else dislikes it. It's a slow-paced movie based more around vibes rather than plot, luckily I like the vibes</p> </li> <li> <p>Queen of the Damned(2002)- Flawed af, but I liked it a bit</p> </li> <li> <p>Sinners(2025)- This movie is a fucking masterpiece, and I don't use that word lightly. My personal favorite scene is the one where Sammie plays music at the juke and summons musicians from both the past and present. I got chills from that scene, and that is not something I say lightly either. There's so much to say about this movie that I can't fit into this blog post, so watch it or you're fake!</p> </li> <li> <p>Transylmania(2009)- If you want to watch something bad to laugh at how bad it is, here you go</p> </li> <li> <p>Twilight(2008)- Dogshit movie, I have nothing to say that hasn't been said to death already</p> </li> <li> <p>Underworld(2003)- Decent movie, albeit it does drag on a bit at times. Selene is very pretty</p> </li> <li> <p>Vampire In Brooklyn(1995)- THIS MOVIE IS SO FUCKING FUNNY I WAS LAUGHING SO FUCKING HARD. Also I love the plot and characters. Maximilian is hot.</p> </li> <li> <p>The Vampire Next Door(2024)- Oh yeah I forgot I watched this movie</p> </li> <li> <p>What We Do In The Shadows(2014)- This movie is so funny, I love it. Haven't gotten around to watching the show yet, but I plan to watch it</p> </li> </ul> <h2>Vampire Movies I Won't Watch:</h2> <ul> <li>Any of Twilight's sequels</li> <li>Morbius (I might watch it as an April fool's joke, but don't count on it)</li> <li>Anything made for young children (e.g. Hotel Transylvania, Monster High, etc). Stuff for teens is fine though</li> </ul>

Vampire Movies I Have Watched

I've seen my fair share of vampire movies over the years, so I figured I should make a blog post about the ones I've seen.

Tagged updates

Strawbery Starter 1.1 release

A new update for Strawberry Starter! In fact, the first major update!
Here's a rundown of the new features:

Tags

You could already tag your posts, but now it's more useful! If you have at least one tag (that isn't post or infobar) a tag view will appear in your "All Posts" page. This lets you view every tagged post at once! All of the example posts that come with the template have tags now, to serve as little examples of this feature.

Navbar links & Footer comments

It's now easier than ever to add external links to your navbar, or add comments to your post pages. You'll see two new layouts in the _includes folder: navbar.html and comments.html. The former lets you easily add external links (or whatever else)! and the latter lets you easily copy paste a comment script from a service like Disqus or CommentBox.

Minifeeds

A new social-media-ish alternative for your blog! Add feeds to the minifeeds folder and give them a tag. This is a great way to keep an ongoing list of books you've read or stuff you're doing. Posts added to the minifeeds folder won't count as "posts", and so won't clog up the RSS Feed or the "All Posts" page. They'll only appear in the tag view, but you can also link to them directly. A new #Updates minifeed has been added to the template to show you how to do it!

Easy backups!

You can now type npm run backup in a command line to backup your blog. This will preserve your assets and posts in a format that's really convenient for backing up, OR for using to upgrade to a newer version of Strawberry Starter. Just download the new version, drop your backup in there, and voila!

There's a new guide on the site about how to use all these in more detail: Advanced Features.
Let me know what you think about this update! I've already seen some cool blogs out there, and am hoping to see more. Special thanks to Em Reed and their awesome blog, for helping me test out these new features.

Keep blogging, and believe in the net! 🍓
